| Salutation
from Mr Stavros Dimas, Member of the European Commission
"It is an honour for me to be the Patron of
the 3rd International PRO EUROPE Congress in Paris.
‘Green Dot 2006: a successful path to environmental
citizenship’ builds on the success of the two
previous PRO EUROPE Congresses held in Berlin (2004)
and Madrid (2001), and will bring together interested
stakeholders from many sectors and backgrounds to
discuss the important issue of how to move society
and industry towards more environmentally responsible
behaviour.
|
I very
much welcome PRO EUROPE’s initiative in organizing
for the third time an international forum for discussion
which will look beyond the realms of packaging waste
management and examine wider environmental challenges
and topics such as resource use, sustainable development
and the relevance of environmental education for future
generations. Raising the awareness of our citizens
to environmental issues is an area where PRO EUROPE
and its members have made a significant contribution.
The PRO EUROPE Youth Eco-Parliament is a good example
of the importance of harnessing young people's commitment
to the environment. I am therefore particularly pleased
to be Patron of this Congress which takes place alongside
the second edition of the Youth Eco-Parliament, also
in Paris.
With this in mind, I look forward to a constructive
and lively debate in Paris." |

| Welcome
from Mr Bernard Hérodin, President of PRO EUROPE
It’s a great honour to welcome the third International
PRO EUROPE Congress in Paris. We’ll do the best
to make our meeting a success for all the delegates,
the participants and the media.
This year, PRO EUROPE is focusing on "Green
Dot 2006: a successful path to environmental citizenship".
Indeed, beyond the economic organization of recycling,
people are now ready to implement environmental demands
on their daily life.
|
| It
reinforces the message we’ve been giving for
years, a "call for action", where waste
policy can be the trigger for the future generation
in order to become eco-friendly people.
The Youth Eco-parliament will join the congress, demonstrating
the key relevance of education in the protection of
the environment.
By running a network for the exchange of experience,
we hope promoting the most efficient realisation in
each member state.
