Dr Kratochvíl received a degree in geology from the Science Faculty of Charles University in 1960.

Professional career
Dr Kratochvíl is the general manager of collection and recycling organisation at ECOBAT. Prior to this job he was first a researcher at Charles University and then as waste management officer for Kladno District Office. His next position was head of the environmental division at Palaba Slaný and before joining ECOBAT he was also the landfill manager for Skládka Uhy, Regios Úholičky.
